Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 31!
A huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers!

We heard some beautiful singing from the choir after the volunteer appreciation breakfast this week!
We enjoyed the sound of handbells too.
 Finally we heard the chimes.
What an amazing job by these awesome singers!
These are the competitors for the book tournament this week.  Our class voted for If you Ever Want to Bring an Alligator to School, Don't but we will have to wait to find out which book will move on to the next round in the tournament.
For Earth Day we read The Lorax and worked on Cause and Effect.
Another smarty pants earned their Banana Split this week.
We made art with recycled materials this week as we honoured Earth Day.

Week 30!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Christ is risen!  Alleluia!
Each student received an Easter egg on their return to class after the Easter break.
We made crosses to celebrate Easter when we returned to school.
We watched An Easter Carol which return the story of Easter and we compared it to another familiar story, A Christmas Carol.
We made a human thermometer in science.
We had to work together to put ourselves in order.
 Here is our human thermometer.
More students earned their banana splits this week!

We had to take science outdoors this week to complete a spring scavenger hunt to prepare for Earth Day and our new science unit  about small living things.

We also discussed ways to protect our environment.
Students brought home this note about yearbooks this week.
We ended our week with a beautiful mass at Our Lady of the Angels church in the morning...
and a lovely musical concert in the afternoon.

Week 29!
We grew our math brains again this week as we practiced our mental math strategies.
We used these flap cards to practice the strategy of making ten to help us add accurately and efficiently.

We also used the cards to practice the count on strategy.

These were the first two books in our book tournament.  It was a close vote but The Magic Word was the winner this week. Next week we will read another new book.
Another banana split was earned this week!

We read a lovely story about about beautifully decorated eggs.
We opened all our Resurrection eggs to retell the story of Holy Week.

We celebrated the first Oiler's game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with Oilers Day.

We observed Holy Thursday and Good Friday with a beautiful liturgy.

I hope everyone enjoys a blessed Easter weekend with family and friends.
