Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 16!

Our first week back we celebrated Maggie as our first Star Student of 2014!
In math we worked on more numeracy skills practicing our adding and subtracting with different manipulatives.

This week we started our Banana Split Math Facts.  Each week we will earn a piece of a banana split and once we have earned all the parts we'll celebrate with Banana Splits in the classroom.  We have lots of hard work ahead of us but we can do it!
Tripp shared his Christmas adventure on a dog sled.  We learned about dog sledding in social studies.

We read and learned about the Titanic this week.

We each recorded what we learned and created our own Titanic.

We discovered how long it takes to get to Meteghan, Saskatoon, and Iqaluit from Alberta.
We worked on vocabulary.
We learned about the physical regions of Iqaluit, Meteghan and Saskatoon.

Week 15!

The last week before Christmas break we celebrated Cameron as our star student!

It was an incredibly busy week preparing our hearts for Christmas.  We lit the third candle on the advent wreath on Monday and lit the final candle on Friday.

Father Ashok came to celebrate with us and bless the crossed that the Parent School Council generously bought for each classroom in the school.

The students asked that I not post on the blog until after Christmas Day so that they would be able to share their gifts with their families without giving away any surprises.  We were very busy making crafts to share with our families.

We had several very chilly days that resulted in indoor recesses.  As always, the students embraced the Alberta weather and made the best of the situation.

The gym was booked several times throughout the week for a variety of Christmas activities so we did some Christmas Just Dance in the classroom to get our bodies moving on the long days without recess breaks outside.

We reviewed our counting skills in math.
We applied for jobs as one of Santa's reindeer.
Check out all the great applicants!

We celebrated our great behaviour choices on the last day before the Christmas break by having a PJ and movie reward day.
We also got to enjoy some yummy cupcakes, candy canes and other Christmas treats.
We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas sing along led by Mr.  Willsher!
A quick reminder to hang on to your empty bottles for our school bottle drive.

All that remains is to wish everyone a blessed Christmas season and Happy New Year!
