Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 9!

We started out our week celebrating Pumpkin Day.
We predicted whether a pumpkin would float or sink.  Then we tested our pumpkin to see if we were correct.  We discovered that pumpkins float.
 We weighed our pumpkins.
We counted the ribs on our pumpkin.
We measured the circumference of our pumpkin.
We counted how many blocks the circumference of our pumpkin was.

We scooped out the insides of the pumpkin to get all the seeds out.
We counted all the seeds we could in 5 minutes.
We recorded our findings in our pumpkin observation booklet.
Finally, it was time to carve our pumpkins.
We did a great job carving such unique pumpkins!
In math this week we worked on making numbers with base tens.

Halloween finally arrived!  We visited all the other grade two classrooms to do Halloween activities.
In our classroom, we made spider hats.
We were very blessed with many treats from generous grade two families.  By the time I got my camera, most of the treats had been consumed.  Luckily, this mummy bottle survived long enough to have his picture taken.  Thank you to everyone who sent in Halloween treats!
