Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 13!

Last week our star student was Haley!

There were no school buses running on Tuesday which made for a smaller than usual class and much excitement from the students.
We started on our Advent journey by lighting the first Advent candle, the candle of HOPE.
We started to work on making our own Advent wreaths.

We started to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

This week in science we made motorboats with Miss Adams.

The generosity of our grade two families was demonstrated again this week as Dara and her family donated an Advent calendar to every student in our class and two very happy Holt children too.

We had some helpful elves join our class at the end of the week to help us create an amazing gift for our families.  Thank you to Tripp who brought his mom and grandpa to school on Friday to help us get crafty.  Cameron's mom, Mrs. Knight, also came along to help out and join in the creative fun.
We got to work with hammers and nails.

We had to hammer 16 nails into the wood.
All materials were donated, prepared and brought to school by Tripp's family.
We are extremely grateful for the generosity of Tripp and his family!
You'll have to wait unit Christmas morning to find out what we created for you.

Sadly, we've had several sick students and a sick teacher lately.  As always, our best line of defence is hygiene.  I'm reminding the students to wash their hands thoroughly to stop the spread of nasty bugs that cause pink eye, flu and colds.  Please help us to remember at home too.
