Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 18!

We worked on setting some goals for the new year.

We worked on ordinals in math.
We are working on our math basic facts to 18.  We are working on our first set of facts to earn a bowl for our banana split.
Students will work on earning all the parts of a banana split and we will celebrate with a real banana split once we have all learned our facts.

We had lots of fun learning about how children played games long ago in Meteghan.

We learned about the Acadian people.
Acadian women wore bonnets to protect their hair and face from dirt and sun.  They wore aprons with large pockets to collect eggs and vegetables to prepare meals for their family.
We made lighthouses just like the lighthouses found in Nova Scotia.

We learned about all the chores and jobs that needed to be done by the Acadian people long ago.

We learned how to make butter.
We learned how to play wooden spoons and heard some Acadian music.

We learned about the Acadian flag.

Thank you so much to our volunteers.  We couldn't do it without you!
