Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 8!

Gage was our star student this week!

More students working hard on Lexia. Super job!
 Pumpkin Day was very busy!
We weighted our pumpkins.
We measured the distance around our pumpkins.
We measured the height of our pumpkins.
We predicted if our pumpkins would float or sink then we tested our pumpkins.
We counted the ribs on our pumpkin.
 We raced our pumpkins.

Finally, it was time to carve our pumpkins.

Check out these amazing pumpkin creations!

In science, at the end of the week, we created plasticine boats that floated and held cargo.  We learned how to change a sinker into a floater then back into a sinker again.

Just a reminder that I will be sending home sound friend puzzles that we work on in class.  When a sound friend puzzle comes home please have your child read or sing  it to you and make corrections where needed.  The song is at the top of the page and the puzzle should match the song exactly, including capitals and punctuation. Students  can cross out the words and print in the correct work since they no longer have their puzzle pieces.  Please return the puzzle to school once it has been read and corrected. If you have time, you could also take the opportunity to discuss the sound and gesture of the sound friend then identify other words that use that sound. This is a valuable activity to reinforce the sounds we are learning about and reviewing in class.

We also did some fall tree painting this week.

We will have a costume parade after lunch on Friday, October 29th.  Students are asked to change into their costumes after lunch.  After the costume parade, we'll return to the classroom for some Halloween fun.  Students are welcome to share a fun size nut safe Halloween treat with their classmates.

The class earned a reward day and have decided to have PJ Day on Monday, October 26th.
