Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 24!

Wow!  March really came in like a lion!
Lots of indoor recesses again this week.  Some students put their indoor recess time to good use creating board games to share with the class.
I need to draw your attention to a few changes to our March calendar.  On March 12th our theme day has been cancelled so that the students can focus on their Lenten journey.
Also, our field trip to the Royal Alberta Museum will be on March 17th not March 11th.  My apologies for any inconvenience.

We celebrated Shrove Tuesday with some delicious pancakes.

We learned to flip pancakes.

Then we enjoyed our pancakes with our grade 2AD friends.
We also enjoyed reading and writing about "If You Give A Pig A Pancake".  Here is a link to the story online "If You Give A Pig A Pancake"
We attended a beautiful Ash Wednesday Liturgy to prepare our hearts for our Lenten journey towards Easter.
We had time to tally up all the medals for the Sochi Olympic games won by the Canadian Olympic Team.  Twenty five medals in total!  We are proud Canadians!
We also started our new research project on igloos.  We thought since we were building an igloo it made sense to do some research on igloos.  The students are really getting used to using the Chromebooks and are becoming great fact detectives.
Our bulletin board this week had a chilly penguin theme.  We made these penguins a few weeks ago but we were so eager to share our olympic research we decided to wait to display our penguins.
