Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 7!

Mr.  Walker, our school chaplain, came to spend some time with us on Monday afternoon during religion class.
We had lots of fun singing, praying and learning about God.
In math with Miss Sebastianelli, we worked with base ten blocks making numbers up 100.

We also did some estimating.

In Science we learned how to clean water using different types of filters.

We found some very interesting words to tune into in our Fancy Nancy Our Thanksgiving Banquet book.
After reading this book we wrote our own Thanksgiving stories.

We spent some time editing our work before publishing our final copies.
We reviewed Mimi Mermaid's sound this week.
Then we read about magic in this beautiful book by Mem Fox.

We are continuing to use what we are learning about sounds as we do our Making Words lessons.  We then transfer the words we have made into our Sort and Transfer books.  We use word families to decide which words to transfer into our books.

In religion we worked in small groups to discuss and share the many things we are thankful for.

At the end of the week we celebrated friendship with a Friendship Party.  All four grade two classes participated.  We started with a short liturgy and prayer.
Then we did an friendship activity to help us get to know other grade two students outside our own classroom.
Finally, we did some EEKK! reading with our new grade two friends by sharing books about friendship.
We even got a chance to enjoy the beautiful fall weather during our fire drill on Friday afternoon.
