Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 8!

This week we celebrated Kayden as our Star Student.

We've been learning about bodies of water in social.
Canada has many beautiful and interesting communities.  We are learning about Iqaluit, Meteghan and Saskatoon.

St. Mary's Bay, Meteghan, Nova Scotia
We found Meteghan on the map.
The Atlantic Ocean in Eastern Canada.
Koojesse Inlet, Iqaluit, Nunavut
We found Iqaluit on the map.
Sylvia Grinnell River, Iqaluit, Nunavut
 South Saskatchewan River, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
We found Saskatoon on a map.

In religion we celebrated Friendship Day with all our grade two friends with a prayer celebration, lunch together and time to play.

In art this week we created Pasta Skeletons.

We created Super Sentences this week to practice adding details to our sentences.
Words underlined in purple are describing words(adjectives), words underlines in green are the person, place or thing(nouns), words underlines in blue are actions words(verbs), words underlined in orange tell us where and the words underlined in brown tell us when.

We continued to work on our numeracy skills and further explored ordinals in math.
We practiced skip counting with this cool video.

At listening centre we listened to a spooky Halloween story.
We are working on independent centres this week because I started Guided Reading with small groups of students .  This is an opportunity for the students to manage their time, independently read instructions and work without direct instruction from the teacher.  For some students this can be a challenging time.  You may see an increase in notes in the agenda letting you know how your child is using their centres time.  Please don't panic!  This will be temporary as the students learn how to manage their time and work effectively in groups to complete their tasks.

The upcoming week with Pumpkin Day and Halloween will be a busy and exciting one!
