Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 22!
Ryder was our star student this week!
Ryder would like to be an astronaut when he grows up and is very ticklish.
We acknowledged more hard work on Lexia. Bravo!
This week we celebrated 100 days of hard work at school.  Check out these "golden oldies".  We used an aging app to give us an idea of what we might look like 100 years from now.

We made a chain of 100 words we knew how to spell.
We completed 100 piece puzzles of the map of Canada.
We built structures with 100 cups.
We ate some delicious pancakes.
We enjoyed reading about the problems you might encounter if you dare to give a pig a pancake.
Father Ashok came to help us with our Ash Wednesday liturgy.
We started preparing for Lent by creating Lenten wreaths.
We earned our cherries for our banana split and are now working on final item, a spoon.  We should be enjoying a yummy banana split very soon!

Week 21!
This week we celebrated Katherine as our star student.
Katherine would like to be an artist when she grows up and she is not a fan of tomatoes.
More Lexia certificates were earned this week.  Congratulations!
Eric and Sydney shared our kindness challenge by doing a school announcement at the office.  We caught lots of people sharing smiles and kindness!
We finished our groundhog and Groundhog Day research projects and displayed them for our friends to enjoy.
We had a short week together this week as I left right after school on Wednesday to attend a Daily 5, Math Daily 3 and Cafe conference in Red Deer.  As you know, we do "Daily" work in our classroom based on my own research and reading.  The opportunity to attend the conference was invaluable in confirming what we were doing correctly and what we needed to tweak.

There were over 600 educators at this conference from a variety of places across Canada.  I met some lovely teachers from Manitoba.
With so many people attending the conference, and the anticipation of a lot of sitting and listening,  I knew I needed to pick my learning spot carefully.   I sat right at the front.  I need to make sure my brain and body would be able to remain engaged throughout the day.  Even grown-ups need to prepare to learn!
I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with "The Two Sisters" Gail Boushey and Joan Moser.  I can't wait to get back to school on Tuesday to share what I've learned.
Sadly, I missed celebrating Valentine's Day with the students but I know they had the chance to celebrate together.
I hope you all had a lovely Family Day together!
