Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 31!
Mr.  Walker came for a visit to talk more about the Easter season.  We invited our grade two friends in 2Ad and 2Oi to join us. Such a joy to build community and share our faith!
In math we worked on identifying 3D object and the shapes used to create them.  We discussed the many attributes of these objects and shapes.  We then used the objects to build structures.

In social we continued our research on a province of our choice.  Cruz and Jacob are doing research on Quebec.
Joelle is researching Prince Edward Island.
Allyson, Hudson, Cameron, Parker and Bernard are doing their research on British Columbia.
Olivia, Danica, Luke, Jake and Michelle are doing their research on Alberta.

Hailey, Spencer  and Aidan are doing their research on  Ontario.

Matthew, Presley and Gage are doing their research ion Saskatchewan.

Mr.  Chappel came to teach us how to do Ukrainian Eggs.

Thank you to all the volunteers who came to help us make this activity such a success.
We were very proud of our hard work!

Our reading buddies from Saint John Paul II Highs School came for a visit.  We practised our Daily 5 Read to Someone.

In math we also worked on sorting 2D shapes using a variety of attributes.

Exciting news!!! We earned our banana split party by practising our basic math facts to 18.  We will be having our banana split party on Wednesday, May 4th.
Mr.  Berg came to share more social detective tips with us.
I know many students are enjoying using Prodigy both at home and school.   We decided to end our week by sharing our enthusiasm for Prodigy with 2Ad.  Each 2H student paired up with a student in 2Ad to show them how to log on to the website, create a profile and avatar then showed them how to play.  It was a very meaningful experience for our class to be leaders and peer coaches.
We will be going to the symphony on Tuesday morning.  Please make every effort to arrive at school on time as the bus will have to leave on time to get us to our performance in time.

It is early out on Wednesday and our theme is Backwards Day.  Please check our May calendar at https://stj.eics.ab.ca/eteachers/4731/mrs-holt  for other important dates this month.
