Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 14!
Chloe was our star student this week.
Chloe is learning how to snowboard and would like to be a teacher when she grows up.

Another smarty pants earned their Lexia certificate this week!

We lit our second Advent candle, the peace candle, this week.

Our class has several perspective candidates to take over for Rudolph if required.  Each student wrote out a job application to be one of Santa's reindeer.

Santa could definitely use this group of helpful reindeer!

We worked on R words with Rosie Raccoon.

We learned her song and completed the song puzzle.
Rosie Raccoon likes to read so we read a beautiful book about an adult who can't read but decides he wants to learn.
We started working on our Christmas posters and they'll be ready to share at home next week.
We've been adding to our Jesse Tree each week as we learn about the family tree of Jesus.  Each day we add a symbol and read from the bible.  We have read about Adam, Eve, Jacob, Abraham, Moses and many others.
I have a request to make regarding snacks.  We discussed this as a class and I'm asking that you please send snacks that can be eaten while we work in the morning and afternoon so that the students don't have to take their snack outside in the cold weather and we don't take time away from instructional minutes.  Things like carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, granola bars, and grapes are all great snacks that can be eaten while we work without creating a mess or taking up valuable work time.  We discussed making wise choices about what we should eat at lunch and what we should save as "easy to eat and work" snacks.  We'll see how this goes and discuss this again as a class to see if we need to make any adjustments.  Thanks for your co-operation and support as we try to find solutions during these cold winter months.
Please remember that we have Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 17th at 1:15pm and 6:45pm.  Students are asked to be at the school by 6:15pm for the evening performance.  Students are to be dressed in "Sunday Best" with boys wearing a tie/bow tie with dress shirt.  If you have any questions or concerns about the concert please contact Miss Cyca at nicolec@eics.ab.ca
