Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 5!

Please check the October calendar posted on the school website for our class.  Just click here to link you to the calendar.

On Monday the students participated in the Terry Fox Run in some beautiful fall weather.
This week in science our scientists were very busy learning about materials that absorb or repel liquids.

Math this week saw us continuing to work with numbers up to 100.  We worked on 100 chart fragment puzzles.
We also used coins to practice counting by ones, fives and tens.  We also identified the denomination of the coin and its value.

Miss Sebastianelli taught some math this week.  She taught the students a math game using dice that helped them practice their basic facts.
In language arts this week we played with a few more sounds and created some more silly songs.  We read Blue Sea which the students enjoyed as it related to the song we learned, I Caught A Fish Alive.
We also couldn't play with words and sounds without reading some Dr. Seuss.
We transferred some of our drawing skills from our directed drawing in language arts into our art lesson.  The students were very creative drawing their pup in a cup and adding details for their background.
In religion we finished our friendship circle projects and displayed them in the hallway.

Great News!  We have gone from 40% of the class using Lexia Core5 to 80%.  Thank you to everyone who is encouraging their children to use Lexia at home and school.   The students are very proud of their accomplishments and I'm hearing lots of positive feedback from the students about how much they re enjoying the program.  Click here to link to the webpage.
Just a reminder that library is on Tuesdays.
As the chilly weather is moving in please ensure your child is dressed appropriately.
Please remind your child to bring home their water bottles each night to be cleaned and refilled.
This week is Read In Week! If anyone would like to come into the classroom to share and read a favourite book with the class, please let me know.  We love guest readers sharing their love of reading!

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.
