Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t give only your care, but give your heart as well –Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Week 10!
Matthew was our star student this week!
Matthew was very excited to be our star student this week but he was more excited to be heading to Mexico for the November break!  Lucky Matthew!
We enjoyed another wonderful book fair put on by Mrs.  Buban this week.
One of the students donated this terrific book by David Shannon.
The students really enjoyed this new addition to our classroom library.

In social we created maps of the school with Miss Adams.

We had some special visitors from Saint John Paul II High School who came to share some French Halloween stories with us.  When they finished their stories we showed off our awesome reading skills to them by reading in English.

We had a very moving Remembrance Day liturgy this week to show our respect and gratitude to the Canadian men and women who keep us safe.
Miss Sebastianelli read several books about Remembrance Day this week.

We reflected on the importance of showing our respect on November 11th at 11 o'clock.  The students made many interesting observations while watching this video.
In science we read this book about floating and sinking as we continued to explore this concept.
In math we challenged each other with number puzzles we created.

We started working on our Banana Split math this week and many of the students have already earned their ice cream bowl.  Here is a link to a game we've been using to practice our math facts:

We continued to make use of the ChromeBooks in language arts.
Reading to Self is an important part of what we do each day at school.  Our stamina is now at about 20 minutes.

We finished our creative writing activity this week and we're ready to publish them for other readers.
In grade two we know how important it is that we work together and cooperate.

Have a wonderful November break!
